Whether it’s a food truck festival or just a food market, I love them, because I love food. A couple of weeks ago was the last week of Park Spoor Oost in Antwerp. Park Spoor Oost used to be a rail station that wasn’t available to the people but was used for railway purposes from the port of Antwerp. It closed down years ago and that huge space was left empty. This summer they decide to organize food truck festivals, fun fairs, bars, and much more on Park Spoor Oost, and one of them was Djemaa El Fna.
Djemaa El Fna is the famous market place in Marrakesh, that is why the organizers decided to call the market like that because it reminded them of the food stands in Morocco. It gave it a try and here are some pictures I want to share with you.
We ate something from this place in Antwerp called Fez. I know Fez, I have been there, maybe 10 years ago, and I didn’t like it. But this time, they surprised me. The food was delicious! I had a Chicken Briwat (with powdered sugar on top) and small salads: red bell pepper salad, white cabbage salad and couscous salad, each and every salad was extremely delicious, but I’ll have to admit, my favorite was the cabbage salad. They added orange blossom water to each salad which made a delicious combo with the other ingredients. Next to the Briwat, my sister and I shared a Harira soup, delicious as well.
Conclusion: It was fun. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt, as it is the first edition and not everything was in place. Maybe the weather played a roll in some stands being left empty. The food was delicious, there was definitely some animation (not enough to my taste), but as I said: I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.
